Hola! Lets make some corn tortillas! You will never believe how easy these are to make, all you need is the right ingredients and you are half way there! I use a tortilladora or tortilla press to form my tortillas, but you dont need one, all you need is a ziplock bag that you have slashed up the sides and removed the zip strip from so that you have a nice folded piece of plastic. You can do this and is it ever cheap! Here is what you need to make your own tortillas 4 cups of Maseca (corn masa) 3 cups water more or less as needed 1 teaspoon salt Place maseca in a large bowl. Add 2 cups of water and mix by hand until absorbed. At this point you will need to either leave the dough or add more water. I used about 3 cups of water to achieve the texture of play dough, it may take more or less for you depending on the weather, and the atmosphere in your cooking area. When the dough starts to come together in the bowl place it on board and knead for a few minutes until it is supple and pliable. Place dough ball in bowl and cover with either plastic wrap or a dampened dish towel and allow to rest for 30 minutes. After resting is complete, divide dough into small balls about 2 tablespoons each, I used a cookie scoop to portion this. Roll dough into small balls and place inside plastic bag on the press, and flatten slightly and press. Voila tortilla. Gently remove from the plastic and place on a hot griddle.
